Ask for a review by email asks a buyer about what they bought, a reader about what they read, or anyone about your business. Each star in the email is a link: a tap opens your Review Form on the product’s own page, with that star already picked, and the review lands on your Reviews page like any written on your site. It is part of the Reviews & Surveys add-on.
The quick way: Ask buyers for a review
New campaign → Reviews → Ask buyers for a review builds both halves:
- The review form — a Review Form about the product on the page, shown only to visits that began on a link in the email.
- The review email — a week after each purchase, the product they bought with five stars to tap; one email in 30 days at most. Four days later it reminds those who have not clicked (“A minute for a quick review?”), and anyone who replies stops getting it.
Adding the email yourself
In an Email & SMS campaign: Content → Add action → Ask for a review by email. It asks What should they review? first:
| Card | Designs |
|---|---|
| Your business | How Was It to Buy from Us? — your business, with optional review-site links, the same for every rating. |
| A product | How Is Your Purchase? — one product, pictured, with a row of stars; Rate What You Bought — up to three products, each with its own stars. |
| Something they read | Was It Helpful? — the article they read, with five stars. |
There is no This page card: an email has no page to review. The steps:
| Step | What it sets |
|---|---|
| Which product and when / Which content and when | Which product or article each person is asked about, and how many days after. A product design starts at what they bought, not reviewed and not returned, 7 to 30 days after the purchase; an article design, 2 to 14 days after they read it. See Asking about a purchase. |
| Where they review | Which Review Form a tap opens, and where — below. |
| Sender settings | The subject and preheader. Who it is from is on the campaign’s Sending step. |
| Email look | The design. |
| Timing | When it goes, and how often — see When an email sends. |
Only people with something to review are sent it, the moment they have it: nobody gets an email with nothing to rate.
Where they review
- Which Review Form — the form a tap opens, picked from your campaigns. It saves the review and does what its Where the reviews go says. Its campaign must be live: until it is, a tap opens nothing, and the step says so.
- Where it opens:
- On your site — the product’s own page, the article, or your home page for your business. The form opens there in front of the page.
- On your own review page — a page of yours on your domain: the Review Form’s own page, from its Reviews campaign’s Sharing step. The person is known from the link. It needs the Landing Pages add-on.
- A business email’s stars open your home page: until your site’s domain is added to the account, the email waits.
- A Review Form shown only on its own page has no form on your site: open it on your own review page, or place the form on your site too.
What a tap does
The page opens with the Review Form in front, the tapped stars picked, ready for a few words. A star only picks a rating: nothing is saved until they send the form. A test send to yourself opens the live form too, so a review written from it is a real one — delete it on the Reviews page.
What it brought
- The email’s Performance step follows it past Clicked to Reviews collected, against Sent, with their average stars. See Reading an email campaign’s report.
- On the Reviews page, a review written from a star says From a review email where it came from.
