A first-time visitor needs the pitch; a returning one needs a reason to come back. This recipe swaps your homepage hero for returning visitors — no new page, edited in place.

The path at a glance

  1. Tell new from returning.
  2. Rewrite the hero with the WYSIWYG editor.
  3. Target returning visitors.
  4. Measure.

1. New vs returning

Personyze knows whether this is a visitor’s first session — no setup needed. You can go further with visitor attributes like last-viewed category or cart state.

2. Rewrite the hero in place

Open the homepage in the WYSIWYG editor and edit the hero directly — new headline, a “Welcome back” line, a button that points to where they left off instead of “Learn more”. Keep it inline; it’s the same hero, just smarter. The editor AI can draft the returning-visitor copy for you.

3. Target & measure

In targeting, show the returning-visitor hero to non-first-session visitors. Track clicks as a conversion goal and A/B test it against the default hero.

Variations

  • Continue where you left off — resurface the last product or article viewed.
  • By source — match the hero to the visitor’s campaign or referrer.
  • By intent — show pricing-focused copy to visitors who’ve seen the pricing page.
