A limited-time sale works when two things line up: visitors feel the deadline, and the offer is one tap away. This recipe wires an urgency countdown to a coupon, targets the right shoppers, and measures the revenue it drives — end to end.
The path at a glance
- Define the offer and the goal that proves it worked.
- Build the countdown urgency bar or popup.
- Attach the coupon reveal.
- Target the shoppers who should see it.
- Place it, QA, publish, and measure.
1. Define the offer and goal
Decide the mechanic (percentage off, free shipping, tiered discount) and the deadline. Then, in Conversion Tracking, define the goal that counts as success — usually a purchase with the order total as its value, so Personyze can report attributed revenue, not just clicks.
2. Build the countdown
Use the Countdown Timer action for the urgency element. Set it to count down to a fixed end date (the sale close) or a rolling per-visitor window. Show it as a top announcement bar or banner so it rides along every page.
3. Attach the coupon
Pair the timer with the Coupon Popup template — it reveals and copies a code in one tap. Keep the code and the deadline in sync with the timer so the message is consistent everywhere.
4. Target the right shoppers
In the campaign’s Targeting step, choose who sees it: everyone during the sale window, or narrow to cart-holders, returning visitors, or a specific audience. Date-range targeting turns the whole campaign on and off automatically at the sale’s start and end.
5. Place, QA, publish, measure
Anchor the bar with a placeholder or let the popup float. Preview in staging, publish, then watch the goal’s attributed revenue on the campaign’s Performance tab.
Variations
- Flash sale for VIPs — target a loyalty attribute so only your best customers get early access.
- Cart-value threshold — only show the coupon when the cart is above a set total, to protect margin.
- Exit-intent last chance — fire a second popup on exit intent in the final hours.
