Content Recommendations, Set Up with AI — Read Next and Recommended for You, Placed on Your Own Pages

Personyze reads your articles and what your readers read, chooses the widgets, places each one on your own home page and article pages, and shows what they lead to once they are live.

8 min read Updated 29 minutes ago

Content recommendations, set up with AI puts article widgets across your site for you. Personyze reads your articles, sees what your readers read, chooses the widgets, finds a spot for each on your own pages and draws it there with your own articles. You check it, change anything you like, and publish. Start it in New campaign: on the Content Recommendations card, press Set it up with AI. An account has one — once yours exists, the button says Open your AI setup.

Two short videos: setting it up the first time, and what it shows once it runs.

Performance over the last 30 days: content goals reached and readers engaged, each step against your whole site, Funnel dynamics, Recommended items, and asking the AI assistant.
Nothing reaches your readers until you publish. Publish to staging puts the widgets on your pages for you alone, with a preview link. Publish to live is yours: the setup never publishes live.

How it works

The first screen, How it works, says it in four steps: We read your articles (titles, pictures, dates), We see what readers read, We choose where to show them and You check and publish. In the campaign they are the steps Your articles, What readers read and Where to show them, then QA and Performance. The box beside them, Content set up with AI, says where the campaign stands — on staging or live, and since when — and Needs you lists anything to fix.

It is its own campaign, apart from Product recommendations, set up with AI: an account can have both.

Set it up for me, or step by step

Your site is the site your pages are read from (the arrow has your others). Then How should we set it up?

Choice What happens
Set it up for me (Recommended) Personyze reads your articles and what your readers read, chooses the widgets and finds their spots — a few minutes, and you can leave the page meanwhile. It opens on Where to show them: you check one summary, then publish.
Let me check each step Opens Your articles; you go through the steps one at a time.

It is asked once. A site with no articles is told “We found no articles on…” and offered Read my articles from your site and Connect an article feed instead — and, when it has products, Recommend your products instead.

Your articles

Widgets can only show articles Personyze knows. When none can be shown yet, the step asks How do your articles come in?

Way What it does
A content feed An RSS or other feed of your articles, or a file. See Content feeds.
Read them from my site Personyze finds your article pages and reads their titles and pictures, right in the step. See Crawl your site.

The source line says how often it is read again. Change how your articles come in picks another way, and See your article catalog › opens every article Personyze knows in a new tab.

Ready for recommendations? then counts three things out of all your articles: Articles a widget can show (a picture, a title and a link), Articles published and Articles on an article page. A widget never shows an unpublished article; when most are, the step says so and where to publish them — in your feed, or by reading them again from your site. Nothing in your catalog is changed here.

What readers read

The widgets learn from the articles each reader reads. The step shows Article reads, Comments and Goals in the last 24 hours, and how reads are recorded — recording them from the address of your article pages needs no code. Then the big number: how much of what readers read this week a widget can show, and what holds the rest back:

  • No title yet — a page recorded from its address and never read;
  • Unpublished;
  • The same article under another address;
  • Not an article — your home page, pricing.

When reads are recorded on every page, Record reads on article pages only fixes it, by the address your articles have — only when you press it. When almost nothing has a title yet, it offers Read your articles from your site instead. A site that records no reads is offered Set up article tracking (how); Open your tracking settings › sits beside how reads are recorded. Until reads come in, the widgets show your newest and most read articles, and become personal by themselves.

Where to show them

Personyze opens a few of your home and article pages, on a computer and a phone, finds a spot for each widget and draws the page with it:

Widget Page What it picks
Read next Article pages, a row of 6 Picked for each reader, starting from the article they are reading — similar articles, what readers of it also read, and the week’s most read until there is a history.
Recommended for you Home page, 8 Picked for each reader from what they and readers like them read; the week’s most read and your newest articles until there is a history.
Recently read Home page, 4 The articles this reader read here, to go back to — hidden on a first visit.

On each widget’s card:

  • The picture of your page with the widget in it, on a computer or a phone, how many sample pages the spot was found on, and Shows now: — what a reader sees in it today.
  • The switch, On or Off, takes effect at your next Publish to staging.
  • Change the algorithm and Change the look open the widget’s editor in a drawer beside the setup (algorithms, fallbacks).
  • Move it picks another spot on one of your own pages.
  • More settings: Items (1 to 12) and On phones — Same spot as desktop, Another spot or Not on phones.

Your changes are kept when Personyze reads your pages again. Above the cards, Your kind of site says what the widgets are set up for — B2B blog, News & publishing, Learning & docs, Recipes & how-to, Video & entertainment, or Set up for your site — with Change. A kind of site that reads your articles with AI offers Turn on article reading, with what it costs: then Read next becomes the next step on the topic of the article being read — an explainer, a deeper guide, the next part. Badges on your widgets sets the small labels on an article’s card: new, most read, trending today and read counts. For rules, audiences or more widgets, Open the full editor shows the same campaign with every step.

Publish to staging, QA and live

Press Publish to staging at the top. Personyze builds the widgets, opens a page of each kind on a computer and a phone, and says on each card whether the widget was found. Check again looks once more without republishing.

QA has one row per kind of page. Preview opens your site on staging with the widgets on, in your browser only, with the QA bar; its ▾ has Open without the bar and On a phone. Back to live puts your browser back on your live site. See QA campaigns.

When it looks right, press Publish to live. After a change, publish to staging again: on a live campaign that takes it off live until you Publish to live.

Performance

A live setup’s Performance step, on its Recommendations tab, shows what the widgets lead to over the range you pick. Content has no revenue: it counts your content goal — a sign-up, a download, whatever goal you record.

Figure What it says
Goal completions Visits that completed your content goal after reading a recommended article.
Engaged Visits that clicked a recommended article — and their share of the visits that saw a widget on screen.
Goal rate Goal completions out of the visits that engaged.
Whole site, Shown, Viewed, Engaged, Goal The way down from your site’s sessions: widgets shown, seen on screen, a recommended article clicked, the goal reached. Engaged and Goal are each set against the period of the same length just before.
Funnel dynamics Those steps Daily or Weekly; beside it, Goal completions plots Goals or Engaged per day.

The Recommended items tab goes down to the articles: Times shown (at least two thirds on screen), Item clicks, Click rate and Goals reached within 7 days — By widget, By algorithm or By item. See Performance metrics.

Ask the AI assistant

The panel’s AI assistant can start the setup as Set it up for me does, say where it stands, and publish it to staging when you ask — never to live. Ask it, in your own words, how your content recommendations are doing.

Limits

  • An account has one content setup (and one product setup).
  • A widget shows only published articles with a title, a picture and a link, never one the reader already read — but Recently read, which is exactly those.
  • Recently read is hidden until a reader has read here.
  • A widget changed in the full editor keeps your algorithm and look; the setup still turns it on and off and chooses its pages.
  • The setup has no Automation step: a campaign’s rules are made in the full editor.
  • Its widgets go on your home page and article pages.
