Installing Personyze on Webflow

Add the Personyze tag to a Webflow site from inside Personyze: connect, pick the site, Add tag, then publish in Webflow. Status badges, automatic domains, consent mode, removing and disconnecting.

The Webflow integration adds the Personyze tag to your Webflow site in one click, from inside Personyze. There is no code to copy, and nothing to paste into Webflow’s custom code settings.

Personyze never publishes your site. It adds the tag to your site’s head code, and the tag goes live the next time you publish the site in Webflow. That way Personyze can never push unfinished Designer changes live along with it.

Connecting Webflow

  1. In Personyze, go to Integrations and open Webflow.
  2. Click Connect Webflow. A Webflow window opens.
  3. Webflow asks you to authorize Personyze. Choose the site — or the whole Workspace — you want to use, and click Authorize App.

Personyze asks Webflow for two things only: to read and edit your sites, and to read and edit your sites’ custom code. It uses them to list your sites and to add, update or remove its own tag. It never reads or changes anything else on your site.

Adding the tag to a site

After you authorize, the same window lists the sites you shared, under Choose a site.

  1. Next to the site, click Add tag.
  2. You will see Tag added — one step left.
  3. Open the site in Webflow and click Publish. The tag is live from that publish on.

Each site in the list shows its status:

  • Installed — the current tag is on the site.
  • Update available — an older version of the tag is on the site. Click Update, then publish the site in Webflow.
  • No badge — the tag is not on this site yet.

Your site’s domains are added for you

Personyze only records visits from domains your account tracks. When you add the tag, Personyze checks the site’s domains, adds any that are missing, and tells you which it added.

  • If the site has a custom domain, that domain is added.
  • If the site has no custom domain, its yoursite.webflow.io address is added.

The webflow.io address of a site that also has a custom domain is not added — for that site it is only Webflow’s staging address.

If your Personyze account uses consent mode, the tag added to Webflow uses it too: it waits for the visitor’s consent, exactly like the tracking code you would paste by hand.

If you switch consent mode on or off later, the site shows Update available. Click Update, then publish the site in Webflow.

Adding the tag to another site

Open Integrations → Webflow and click Add the tag to another site. The Webflow card also shows which sites Personyze has added the tag to.

Removing the tag

Open Integrations → Webflow, click Add the tag to another site to open the site list, and click Remove next to the site. Then publish the site in Webflow — the removal takes effect when you publish, like everything else here.

Disconnecting

To stop Personyze from reaching your Webflow sites, click the delete icon on the Webflow card, or Disconnect Webflow in the Webflow window. You can also remove the Personyze app from your Webflow dashboard.

Disconnecting does not remove a tag that is already on a site. Remove the tag first (see above) if you no longer want it.

Troubleshooting

I added the tag but see no traffic in Personyze. Check that you published the site in Webflow after adding the tag — until you do, nothing is live. To confirm it is live, open the published site, open the browser console and type _S_T: if it answers with an object rather than “not defined”, the tag is running. Personyze’s Tracking Code screen also shows each domain’s visits from the last ninety minutes.

A site I expected is missing from the list. Personyze only sees the sites you chose on Webflow’s authorization screen. Click Choose different sites below the list and select the site there.

“Update available” appears on its own. Your consent mode setting changed after the tag was added. Click Update, then publish.

The window says Personyze will not accept page views from a domain yet. Your account’s list of tracked domains is too long to take another one automatically. Contact support and we will add it.

Prefer to install by hand?

You can still copy the tracking code from Settings → Tracking Code and paste it into Webflow’s site-wide custom code (Site settings → Custom code → Head code).
