Most carts never check out. This recipe catches shoppers before they leave, and follows up with the ones who still go — on-site and off — then measures the revenue you win back.
The path at a glance
- Track carts and their value.
- Define the “abandoning” audience.
- Catch them on-site with an incentive.
- Follow up off-site by email or push.
- Measure recovered revenue.
1. Track carts
Turn on product interaction tracking so Personyze sees add-to-cart and purchase events. Capture the cart total as a visitor attribute if you want to threshold or personalize on it.
2. Define the abandoning audience
In Targeting, build the audience: has items in cart and no purchase in this session. Add recency (active in the last N minutes) so you catch live sessions, not stale ones.
3. Catch them on-site
Fire an exit-intent popup as they move to leave — a reminder of what’s in the cart, optionally with a small incentive from the Coupon Popup template. Keep it to one, dismissible.
4. Follow up off-site
For shoppers who leave anyway, send a personalized re-targeting email with their cart contents, or a web push nudge if they opted in. Route the audience to your ESP via an integration like Klaviyo if that’s where your flows live.
5. Measure
Attach a purchase goal with order-total value to the campaign and read recovered revenue on the Performance tab.
Variations
- No discount — lead with free-shipping or social proof instead of a coupon to protect margin.
- High-value carts only — threshold the audience on cart total so incentives go where they matter.
- Browse abandonment — same recipe, triggered on repeated product views without an add-to-cart.
