What the Assistant May See — Visitor Data & Catalogue

Which visitor data the AI assistant may see, what your own profile fields mean to it, which catalogues it may search, and how long transcripts are kept.

Part of the AI assistant.

AI Chat → Settings → Data decides what the assistant knows beyond what the
visitor types: what your site already knows about the person in front of it, what your own fields mean, and which of your
catalogues it may search. Everything here is off until you switch it on.

What it knows about the visitor

Ten kinds of data, each its own switch, all off by default:

  • The page they are on — so it can answer “this one” without being told which.
  • Where they have been this visit — what lets it say “the one you were looking at”.
  • Roughly where they are — country and region, and the network they are on. Not an address.
  • Their device.
  • How long they have been coming — visits, first arrival, and what brought them.
  • What they have completed before — a returning customer rather than a stranger.
  • That they have chatted before — the number of earlier conversations, not what was said.
  • What kind of company they are — industry and account type as your enrichment filled them in.
The assistant is told these are a guess, never a fact the visitor gave you.
  • Your own profile fields about them.
  • Campaigns already sent to them — so it does not re-offer something they already have.

Whether it may repeat any of it back is a separate choice: use it silently, or let it refer to what
they were looking at.

None of this works without the Personyze tracker on the page. The widget identifies the visitor
through the tracker; with no tracker the assistant answers knowing nothing, and nothing says why.

What your profile fields mean

Switch on Your own profile fields and a second section appears. The assistant can read your custom slots but
has no idea what you keep in each, so by default it is told not to interpret them. Name the ones you want
used
— “Loyalty tier”, “Coupon they already have” — and leave the rest
blank. A named slot is presented as a fact your business stated; an unnamed one stays off-limits.

What it knows about your catalogue

What it may search: Products, Content, or both. Products off suits a
site that does not sell, or whose feed is stale. Content on its own makes the box a site search that answers rather than
a shop assistant. Choose neither and Personyze works it out from what you have.

You can also choose what it may filter by beyond the name, brand, colour, size and price it always
searches — only the fields your feed actually fills are offered — and whether a result shows the
picture
and the price.

Prices are printed exactly as your feed writes them. The assistant never types a price itself, which
is why switching the price off is the right move if your prices move faster than your imports.

A single placement can be pointed at one feed rather than all of them — see
what a campaign can change.

How long transcripts are kept

In days. Zero means the platform default; anything beyond two years is brought back down. A transcript is whatever a
visitor typed into a box on your site, so this is your legal position rather than ours.

A conversation behind an open handover is never deleted while it is open, whatever the retention
says.

Where this data goes

The screen carries its own summary for a privacy review: it never leaves your account, it is read when a visitor
writes rather than stored again, it goes to the AI service that writes the answer, the visitor is a browser rather than
a verified person, and transcripts are deleted on your schedule.
