Every on-site action editor ends with Track & follow up. Its first line says what Personyze counts by itself, for example Personyze already counts every view and click of this action – in the campaign’s Performance, nothing to set. (a form says view and submit). The step also sends those moments to your own tools. It can tag the visit in your session-recording tool, report the action to your analytics, and put the people who saw or clicked it on one of your lists.
Where to find it
Open any on-site action. Track & follow up is its last step:
- An editor that already has steps (popups and banners, recommendation widgets, forms, surveys and more) gets Track & follow up after its own steps.
- An editor that used to be one screen now has steps too. The first step is the form, named for what it is: Your code for Run JavaScript Code, Edit the page for Edit Pages with WYSIWYG, and Set it up for the rest. Next comes When and where (below), and Track & follow up comes last.
- Two actions have no such step. Redirect to URL has none, because its view fires as the page leaves, so a tag or an event rarely gets out. Send Event to Analytics has none, because it is a report to your analytics already.
Emails and push notifications are sent by Personyze, not shown on your site. To change lists by what people do with an email, use When people react on the campaign’s Sending step — see Lists on events.
This step took the place of the old When event takes place (advanced) card. Every setting of that card is still here, under More, for developers.
Watch it in your recordings
Watch it in your recordings tags the visit when the action shows, so that you can find every visit that saw it and watch what the visitor did next. Each recording tool has a tile: Microsoft Clarity, Hotjar, FullStory, Crazy Egg, Mouseflow, Smartlook, Lucky Orange, LogRocket, Contentsquare and PostHog. A tap turns a tile on or off.
| The tile says | What it means |
|---|---|
| On – your account’s default | The action follows the account’s choice, and this tool is in it. |
| On | This action tags its visits in this tool. |
| Off | This action does not tag in this tool. |
The first tap gives the action a choice of its own, starting from the account’s tools. After that, a change to the account’s default no longer changes this action. Under the tiles, What you get in <tool>: shows the exact tag each tool receives and where to filter by it. The account’s default is set in Settings → Site profile → Analytics. What each tool receives, and what it needs, is on Session recordings tagged with the variant.
Report it to your analytics
Report it to your analytics sends the action’s events to the tools you tick: Google Analytics 4, GTM data layer, Google Analytics, Segment, Klaviyo and Tealium. Pick the tools once. The action reports when it shows, and then every click or submit.
Every action uses the same event names, with the action’s name as the label and Personyze as the category:
| When | Event name |
|---|---|
| When they see it | personyze_shown |
| When they click it | personyze_clicked |
| When they submit it (a form) | personyze_submitted |
| When they close it | personyze_closed |
Your analytics counts all your actions under these few events and tells them apart by the label: count who saw an action and who clicked, build a funnel from seen to clicked to bought, or make an audience of everyone who saw it. A name you typed yourself under More, for developers is kept.
- On for some events – tap for all means the action’s events were set apart before. A tap sends from all of them.
- Off – your account’s default marks a tool chosen in Settings → Site profile → Analytics. The account’s tools are a starting point, not a send: tick the tile to report this action to that tool.
- Each tool must already be on your page. Personyze never loads one for you, and a tool that is missing is skipped.
The tools themselves are explained on Send Event to Analytics.
Add them to a list
Add them to a list is closed until you want it: it says None and offers Set it up. Open, it has one column for each event of the action (When they see it, When they click it or When they submit it, and When they close it). Each column has an Add to row and a Remove from row over your account’s lists, and + New list makes a list on the spot. Hide closes the section again while nothing is chosen.
A list starts what comes next. It can trigger an email the AI writes to each person who joins it, or be the audience of another campaign. How each change is made, and the other places where lists change, are on Lists on events.
The campaign’s Performance step points here too. When an action was clicked last week and its clicks go to no list, it says so, for example 12 clicks on “Spring offer” last week – keep the people who click in a list, and send them an AI email or show them another campaign. Add them to a list opens the action at this step, and Not now hides the line.
More, for developers
The last card holds every setting of each event, one by one, as the old When event takes place (advanced) card did. It leads with Add to or remove from lists, Send event to analytics (with the event’s Action, Category, Label (optional) and Value (optional)) and Tag the session recording with the variant. Under More are the rest, among them Don’t show this action again, Set user profile data, Execute another action, Custom JavaScript code and Set as goal / Set container value.
The tiles above and this card are one choice: a tile writes the same settings this card shows. With Tag the session recording with the variant switched off here, the action follows the account’s default again.
When and where (Edit Pages with WYSIWYG)
In Edit Pages with WYSIWYG (and its Lead Form twin), When and where sits between Edit the page and Track & follow up.
- Where its changes show lists each change with its Apply on (This page only, Pages that look the same or Anywhere it matches) and its Show on (All devices, Phones only or Desktop & tablet). These are set in the editor when you pick the element. Change › and Open the editor › take you back to it.
- Also limit it to a page group – optional is usually not needed. A page group adds a limit that a change cannot express: a domain, an address with a parameter, or a hand-picked list of pages.
The campaign’s audience and A/B split still come first. Apply on only narrows where a change shows inside them. In the other one-screen editors, When and where holds Restrict to where the campaign offers it, which limits the action with a page group. The editor itself is on Live (WYSIWYG) Editor.
