AI Search & Chat Setup — A Chat Drafted From Your Own Site, Tried Before Anyone Sees It

Set it up with AI on the AI Search & Chat card picks the pages your chat should answer from, drafts how it talks from your own site, puts the bubble on every page…

AI Search & Chat, set up with AI gets an AI chat ready for your site. Personyze picks the pages of your site the chat should answer from, drafts its instructions, greeting and starter questions from what it has read of your site, puts a chat bubble on every page, and lets you ask it five test questions before anybody sees it. Start it in New campaign: on the AI Search & Chat card, press Set it up with AI. It opens your account’s one setup campaign, AI Search & Chat, set up with AI — made as a draft the first time, so it reaches nobody, not even your testing devices. Once yours exists, the button says Open your AI setup.

Nothing reaches your visitors until you publish. Every setting the setup drafts is an unsaved change of the campaign: Publish to staging writes it and shows the chat on your testing devices only, and Discard unsaved changes puts everything back. Publish to live is yours: the setup never publishes live.

How it works

The campaign’s steps are What it knows, How it talks, Where it shows and Try it, then the chat campaign’s own QA, Conversations and Performance. There is one assistant per account (see AI Chat agent), so the settings drafted here are your account’s chat settings. When a chat of yours is already live on your site, the setup says so: once you save or publish, what you fill in here reaches that chat too.

Set it up for me, or step by step

On the first open — while the campaign has never been published — What it knows asks how to go on:

Card What happens
Set up by AI — Set it up for me Personyze sends the pages it ticked to be read, fills in every empty setting from your site, and opens Try it, where you ask it five questions and publish it to staging. Settings you have already set are kept. It publishes nothing.
Step by step — Let me check each step The same four steps, one at a time.

What it knows

Your chat answers only from what it knows: the pages of your site it has read.

  • What it knows now counts the pages read, waiting to be read and that could not be read. Files, text and single pages are added on the Knowledge step (Open Knowledge).
  • Pages to teach it lists your pages from your sitemap, or from the links on your home page, in groups: Home page, Products, Categories, Help & FAQ, Delivery, Returns, Contact, About, Pricing, Documentation, Features, Blog, Policies and Other pages.
  • Still missing names the kind of page your site has none of, and the questions the chat answers with “I am not sure” until it has one.

Which pages are ticked depends on what your site is:

Your site Ticked for you
A store The pages shoppers ask about — help, delivery, returns, contact — and your categories and products.
A business The pages visitors ask about — what you do, pricing, documentation and help.

Change any tick, then press Read these pages (the button counts them). They are read over the next few minutes, and the chat’s answers use each page as soon as it is read. Reading pages uses no AI credit. Reading is not a setting: the pages join your chat’s knowledge at once, and Discard does not take them out.

When the list of your pages cannot be read, the step says why in plain words — such as no sitemap and no links on the home page, a site served over http:// (only https:// sites are read), a site that blocks automated visits, or one that took too long to answer — with Add pages one at a time on the Knowledge step. A site whose address Personyze does not know yet is asked to add it on the Tracking code screen.

How it talks

Drafted from what Personyze has read of your site. On its first open the step fills in the empty settings by itself; when a chat of yours is already live, it waits for you to press Fill in the empty settings from your site (the button counts them).

Setting What it is drafted from
What your site is A store (it searches your products) or A business (it explains what you offer), from the reading of your site. Changing it drafts again only the settings the setup filled in and you have not rewritten.
Instructions Who it speaks for — your business by its name — and what your site is about.
It must never say – one rule to a line Rules such as never making up prices, stock or delivery dates that are not on your pages, never promising a refund or an exception, and never asking for card numbers or passwords.
Greeting and Starter questions – one to a line The first line and the questions offered to a visitor, for a store or a business.
Colour Your site’s main button colour; Use the chat’s own keeps The chat’s own blue.

A setting you had already set is never changed. Suggested changes shows Yours beside Suggested, with Use the suggestion. The drafts are written in English; edit any word.

Where it shows

A chat bubble on every page of your site: visitors open it and ask. Corner is Bottom right or Bottom left, and Hide it on phones keeps it off phones. These are your chat’s look everywhere it appears.

An ask box on your help page: when your site has a help page, it can also have an ask box — a search-like box in the page that answers from the same knowledge (Add it on the Content step; see AI Search).

Try it

Ask it what your visitors would, before anybody sees it.

  • Five test questions are drafted for your kind of site. Ask these 5 questions gets a real answer to each from your chat, from what it knows now; instructions and rules you have not saved yet are added to your saved ones. Each answer shows the pages it came from (From:) and says when it would pass the question to a person. Test answers use a little AI credit and are not counted in reports.
  • What it cannot answer says who gets those conversations — the people on the People step, or your login addresses by email — or that nobody does yet.
  • Publish to staging shows the chat on your testing devices only, with its settings saved with it.

Test answers in the panel need the AI Chat add-on. Without it, publish to staging and ask the chat on your site from one of your testing devices: on staging it answers without the add-on.

Save, Discard and live

The buttons at the top of the campaign write what the steps drafted: Save as draft, Publish to staging and Publish to live. The changes chip beside them lists AI chat settings and has Discard unsaved changes. A draft save takes a version off staging, so on a campaign already on staging, publish to staging again. See QA campaigns.

When a staging version stands beside a live one, the first three steps wait until you publish it to live: their settings have no staging copy. On a live campaign, Try it says It is live.

Limits

  • An account has one AI Search & Chat setup; delete it, and the next Set it up with AI makes a new one.
  • A plan without AI Search & Chat shows Upgrade on the card and no AI button.
  • Answering live visitors needs the AI Chat add-on; the setup can be built and published to staging without it.
  • The setup has no Target or Automation step: rules are made in the full editor.
